1413 Huaihai Road M., was built in 1933, and is listed in the sites of historical interest and cultural relics under the protection of the district government of Xuhui.

This detached villa has free form window opening, utilizing reinforced concrete frame to achieve bigger storey clearance and ample space. Its layout and style embodies more modern and free features, nevertheless reserves some symbolic decorative elements, e.g. half-circular arch on rectangular window, decorative apex stone on the arch window.

This building is the former location of Hongying Library, which was well known as a specialty library in Shanghai, especially on collecting paper and magazines, established by famous patriots, e.g. Huang Yanpei, Shi Liangcai etc. In 1955, it was consolidated with News Library into the Shanghai Paper & Magazine Library, and now is used by Xuhui District Art Museum.
