It’s a residence in Ming Dynasty, formerly named as Yude Hall. The elegant architecture has spacious rooms and three courtyards: in the first courtyard, there are four stone lions at the side of main door, and ceremony gate, stone drum and two one-storey rooms inside;in the second courtyard, there are main hall of Yude Hall with seven bays; in the third courtyard, there is daily life hall with five bays. There are one room at each side the hall, and east & west wing rooms at the side of the courtyard, which are connected with Yude Hall in the second courtyard.
This building was constructed during the Years of Hong Zhi and Years of Zheng De in Ming Dynasty, and the retirement residence of one prominent government official with family name Zhang at that time. Their family waned during transitional time of Qing Dynasty and Republic of China, and the descendants sold this house.
Since in North there was Chunhua Hall, which was the residence of poet Huang Jin, this house was named as South Chunhua Hall. In 2003, the Xuhui Dsitict People’s Government allocated special fund to repair and relocate it into Guang Qi Park from Mei Long. Now it is Xu Guangqi Memorial Hall.
