388/25 Xiangyang Road S.

388/25 Xiangyang Road S. was built in 1933.

Since it was located at the northeastern side of the land block, this detached garden house with Art Deco style features, could only be accessed through lanes from Xiangyang Road S., embodying typical layout style of Shanghai in 1920s or 1930s, i.e. garden house is normally concealed from city noise into lanes. The general layout is asymmetric. There is riding house at east, forming a porch at the main entrance. There is a protruding polygon shape three-storey tower at the east side of south elevation facing the garden, which is the visionary center of the whole elevation.

The tower elevation has composition of three sections vertically, decorated by waistlines. There is light color stone-like scrubbed finish in lower section, grey facing brick in upper section, and geometry pattern on walls between windows on the second & third floors, and underneath the eaves, embodying features of decorative art. There are big windows facing the garden at the west side of south elevation, and light color scrubbed facing stone on the wall between or underneath windows, with strong features of Art Deco style regarding composition and patterns.

Now it is the Puer Tea House of Daketang Tea Co. of Shanghai.
