557 Yongjia Road was built in 1934.

The detached garden house is located at the north side of central part of the narrow land block, separating the land into north entry yard and south garden. The compact and useful entry yard connects with Yongjia Road through a narrow lane, with a small and simple entrance porch, ornamented by small column, which is similar to Tuscan Order.

The south garden of appropriate size is surrounded by big trees, segregating city noise. There is lawn in the middle, and half-visible wooden-like frame under eaves, showing traditional country features in Britain and Germany. There is arc shape protruding balcony on top floor, and half-round wall columns between windows, which become the visionary focus on the whole elevation.
